2007 Mission Trip to the Czech Republic

The dates for the 2007 Czech Republic English Camp mission trip are July 30 through August 5.  There will be a little travel time before and after the camp as we have done in the past.

Some members of last year's team are planning to go again, but we will need some new team members as we increase the team to 12 this year.  Most importantly, we need a couple of people who will join us this year and then be the team leaders for the 2008 trip.

It has been a real joy for all of us that have been able to participate during these years that the camp attendance has grown and the camp has moved to a wonderful facility in a nearby village called Smilovice.  The teens and the church leaders over there have been so very grateful and responsive to our joint ministry with them.  We look forward to this year's camp as well, knowing that God will provide another special team again.

Increasing the team from 10 to about 12 people is planned to better serve the 50 young people expected at the camp.  Although the camp will have about the same number of students as last year, the class groups will increase from 4 to 5 to provide smaller class size.

The team will go to the camp in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, very near the Polish border.  This mission effort will continue the great work begun there the last four years - working with a Lutheran church and its pastors and members in the city of Trinec and affiliated congregations nearby.  The team will lead the English summer camp for the group of about 50 youth from local churches and their friends.  About half the students are not members of the churches, but are drawn to the camp by the opportunity to learn a little more English.  The Czech pastors and staff emphasized very strongly how this is such a special way to reach unchurched youth in their area.  The success of such a trip also depends on a team of supporters here at Holy Cross that helps prepare materials, provide ideas and keep the traveling team in their hearts and prayers throughout the project.  Thank you all!
